We are a family run mill, weavers of fine worsted cloth since 1915. From our humble beginnings in the early 19th century, to supplying some of the top fashion houses of the 21st, we are an example of true British craftsmanship. We are proud to manufacture in England. Alfred Brown fabric has and always will be, woven in England. At the start of world war one the fledgling company sold uniform fabrics to the military, police and fire services. Then followed the heyday of British textile manufacturing. Large orders from major British retail customers who sold suits off the peg, meant we had to excel at mix and match, we became known in the trade for our exemplary consistency and reliability. Our product lines have always focused in two main sections: ‘Specials’ which are made to order and our ‘Stock Supported range’ where we hold between 2000m to 150m of each fabric in stock ready to ship.
